The design of this necklace is based on a stylized palm leaf, a palmette. The palm was closely associated with the twins Artemis and Apollo, who were said to have been born under it on the island of Delos. The palmette was a common design element of decoration on 5th century B.C. Greek vases, relief, architecture and jewelry. Necklace measures 20" with toggle clasp closure.
